Challenges of circuitry to a successful image sensor implementation

It is only a starting point to the success of acquiring high quality images from an image sensor when you selected an image sensor from a reliable supplier, even though the sensor specifications can meet all of the requirements in your mind. It is a lot work to make an imaging system by putting the electronic, mechanic, and optic components together. It may require collaborations of analog designers, digital/FPGA designers, and PCB layout designers. As you know, any design process inherently involves compromises.

Topics of presentation:

This webinar will discuss the challenges at different stages when you design the driver circuit in order to achieve, for example, the maximum sensitivity, the lowest noise, the fastest frame rate that the sensor can offer. So you are able to be prepared for what you might be facing before you invest your engineering time and material cost into the real design work.

Speaker Biography:

Lu Cheng is a Senior Applications Engineer at Hamamatsu Corporation based in Bridgewater, NJ, specializing in image sensor products and associated driver circuits. Prior to joining Hamamatsu, Lu had been working at Data Device Corporation as an analog/mixed-signal ASIC designer for seven years. With the insights in both optoelectronics and the circuit design Lu now is supporting all the image sensor products including CCDs, CMOS and InGaAs image sensors in the USA. She has been helping many customers with building their own spectrometers, instruments, and cameras by achieving the best performance from Hamamatsu sensors. Lu obtained her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from State University of New York at Stony Brook and focused on the study of the highly sensitive photodetectors for very weak fluorescence detection and the circuitry implementation required for biomedical applications.
